Introduction to the Bible
New to the Bible?  Unsure as to how to approach God's Word?

First, read this
overview of the Bible.
  • This will give an explanation of the overall storyline of the Bible and orient you to the main sections of the Bible.
Second, there is a right way to try and study the Bible.
  • The purpose in any Bible study is to know God more intimately.  This is not some mystical out of body type of experience.  It is the Holy Spirit giving understanding to your heart and mind about God and His ways through a thorough and regular study and meditation upon His Word.   Please read these ten guiding principles for studying the Scriptures.
Finally, we must understand that some things in Scripture are hard to understand while others a child can comprehend.  Yet, even though we may not understand, there is an intended meaning and interpretation to the Word of God.
  • Studying the Scriptures is a humbling, lifelong endeavor and one which we never "master" until we see the Master face to face.  Yet we must literally die trying.  Hopefully, by the end of our stay on earth we will know God far better than when we began in our walk with Him.  Any outstanding questions will be answered when we see Jesus face to face.
